GEORGIA

The capital, Tbilisi, is the easiest to fly into and you'll find the Old Town's winding streets and colourful balconies which offer a glimpse into Georgia's rich history. Explore the ancient Narikala Fortress towering over the city, then wander through the bustling flea market of Dry Bridge, where treasures from times past await discovery.

The capital itself has a decent waterpark, Gino Paradise is the largest waterpark in the Caucasus region, or try heading to Aqua Park Batumi on the Black Sea coast for a day of family-friendly fun in the sun.

Aside from this, journey into the countryside to explore ancient monasteries like Mtskheta's Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or discover the breathtaking beauty of the Kazbegi region, where snow-capped mountains and alpine meadows stretch as far as the eye can see.

All that could work up an appetite. Feast on traditional dishes like khachapuri, a savoury cheese-filled bread, or khinkali, juicy dumplings filled with spiced meat. Wash it all down with a glass of Georgian wine and experience one of the oldest traditions in the world.
